Basic Rules
- The gameplay takes place on an m×n board.
- Each cell has a critical mass. This represents how many atoms it can hold before it explodes.
- Corners have a critical mass of 2, edges 3, and center cells 4.
- Players take turns placing one atom of their color in an empty cell or a cell they currently own.
The Explosion Mechanism
When a cell reaches its critical mass, it explodes! The atoms it contained fly outward into adjacent cells.
- If an adjacent cell belongs to an opponent, the incoming atom neutralizes their color and converts the entire stack to your color.
- If this new addition causes the adjacent cell to hit its critical mass, it also explodes. This creates the titular Cofuzion.
The game ends when only one player's color remains on the board.
Pro Strategies
Controlling corners early in the game provides a defensive advantage because they only require 2 atoms to explode. However, baiting opponents into center squares to trigger massive endgame cascades is the hallmark of a true master.
